Alamo Fellows

Our Alamo Fellows

As a program serving first-generation college students, we are focused on building diverse, inclusive, and equitable access to professional opportunities for talent in San Antonio. As trailblazers in their families and communities, many first-generation students navigate their educational journeys with less access to social and cultural capital than students who come from multiple generations of college-goers. San Antonio colleges and universities serve more first-generation college students than any other metro area in the US.

The Alamo Fellows program supports first-generation college students’ professional development by increasing their connections in our city and community. The program exposes Fellows to a variety of non-profit, public, and private organizations that lead economic growth in our city.

Be part of something greater. Watch the video below to learn more about our Alamo Fellows program.

The Program

Students in their 3rd and 4th year attending one of the San Antonio region’s 4-year colleges and universities are eligible to apply to become an Alamo Fellow.

Alamo Fellows creates the following kinds of connections for students:

Fellows will engage with community-based leaders and organizations that will expose students to the great work being done to support people in our community and their well-being.

Fellows will intern with a local company that aligns with their majors and career aspirations in STEM fields. STEM includes majors in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics but also consists of the social sciences such as anthropology and psychology and also business majors that are interested in data analytics and quantitative methods/reasoning.
